I just started for the second time The Cygnet and the Firebird by Patricia A. McKillip, the second book of her Cygnet Duology.

 

This is easily one of my father and my favorite McKillip books, the Luxour Desert one of our favorite places, for in this one book and place does McKillip employ the mighty Dragon. Which, now, poses a threat to both the Cygnet and an enchanted Firebird.
